ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jvoz Art is a dedicated space for showcasing the remarkable abstract art created by John Aivazoglou.
John's journey into art began in college, when a single impressionistic art class opened his eyes to the beauty of color, form, and expression. In that short time, he fell deeply in love with creating, but as life moved forward, his passion was quietly set aside.
More than three decades later, life brought art back to him in an unexpected way. After the passing of his parents, his daughter and son-in-law gave him a simple but meaningful gift: a blank canvas and a set of paints. They hoped it might be a creative outlet during a time of grief. What began as a way to process loss soon reignited the spark he had first discovered in college.
Now, painting is more than a pastime; it’s a deep, personal connection to memory, emotion, and the joy of expression. Through each abstract piece, John channels both the intensity of life’s challenges and the beauty found in its quiet moments.
What began as a hobby has now become a true passion, a place where John creates with no bounds, fearlessly testing the limits of what’s possible. He’s excited to bring that same spirit into crafting your next dream piece.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Most mornings I wake up with a paintbrush and a cup of coffee in my hand. Who would have thought any of this would have been possible without an unexpected gift from my daughter and son-in-law, Nicolette and Manoli Lagos. I received art supplies and a quote from Vincent Van Gogh: “If you hear a voice within say you cannot paint, then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.” Words cannot truly express my gratitude for the gift and the wonderful journey that followed.
Special thanks to my friend Rob Hofecker, an incredible artist, who inspired, taught, and pushed me to initially paint. His guidance was instrumental in shedding any fears around this process and touching the canvas.
Also, many thanks to another incredible artist, Stephen Gitter, whose instruction, patience, and constructive criticism were integral in my growth as a painter. Greatly appreciate the guidance of Rob “Seek” Dugan, who introduced and helped me develop my current passion for Contemporary Art. Seek taught me to be fearless and release my mind and hands.
Lastly, much love and appreciation to my wife Kalliopi for her direct, constructive criticism of all of my work. She is my extra set of eyes and always appears to be right, even when I do not want to hear it.
